This is without doubt, Spur’s best opportunity this season to put the psychological pressure on league-leaders Chelsea. If they win on Friday, it’ll reduce the gap to a single point and though Chelsea will have a game in hand, it’ll put the pressure on them big time to win that game. It’s now or never for the Champions-elect (whoever they may be) and the true heroes will walk tall now whilst others fall by the wayside.
As far as league form goes, they couldn’t come into this in better form with 9 league wins in a row.
They are poles apart in the league with West Ham, but that doesn’t mean it’s a formality. Spurs had to come from behind to beat them last time and only gained the victory in stoppage time. It was a tough battle and West Ham certainly won’t be looking to make it easy for them here.
Mousa Dembele should return to the starting line-up having been left on the bench for the start of the north London derby following the ankle injury he sustained against Crystal Palace. Should the Belgian return to the side, Heung-min Son is most likely to make way.
Jan Vertonghen is expected to be fine despite picking up a knock against Arsenal, but Friday’s match will likely prove too soon for Danny Rose who continues his recovery from a knee injury.
We expect West Ham to hold Spurs at bay for at least the second half, but Tottenham have staying and fire power so a late goal or two is definitely a strong possibility.
