Only two teams- Liverpool and Chelsea- have won at Goodison Park in the Premier League since Ronald Koeman join. Their home record is pretty much intact and there should be no slip ups here. In fact, their home record is so good, if they win tonight, they’ll record their biggest home points tally in nearly 30 years.
A worry will be the absence of goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg who is out through a groin injury. Tom Cleverley won’t be able to start tonight due to the terms on his loan deal.
A big plus factor for Everton is that Watford have lost their last 5 away game and haven’t scored a single goal. They’re not looking like a team that enjoys travelling and tonight’s test will be as hard as any they’ve faced recently. Their loss of form occurred at a time when they were hit with a spate of injuries. It’s a bad spell they’re going through and it could change, it just seems unlikely at this stage of the season.
Previous stats aren’t great either. Watford have lost nine of their previous 10 games at Goodison Park. The Toffees are pretty accurate with their shooting too with 41% of their goal attempts on target- the highest in the Premier League.
On all known form, Everton are heavily weighted to win this one and it would be something of a surprise should Watford pull off a victory.
